Getting rid of acne

I’ve had acne since fifth grade, so since I was eleven, for four years now. I’m going to share with you guys my favourite products, tips and tricks to use to get rid of acne/ get it under control!

1. DON’T touch your face!

I know, EVERYONE says this and it’s hard to keep your hands away from your face, but when you do touch your face you’re transferring a bunch of bad bacteria and oils from your hands onto your face and you don’t want that. Trust me I know. This is one of my biggest tips to give you even though you won’t see results right away this will help you in the long run!

2. Washing your face.

Obviously you need to wash your face. Everyone knows that! But do you know how to wash it properly? To cleanse your face properly I recommend using a good cleanser sans beads that would irritate your face and using your hands or a towel to scrub your face gently. This is a gentle way of removing all the dirt and bacteria without irritating the skin. Notice how I say without irritating a lot ? It’s because when you have acne your face is already irritated and oily/dry so you don’t want to further irritate it with a step that’s supposed to gently cleanse your skin. I don’t recommend using clarisonics often/every day because I’ve learned from experience that you see better results using them once or twice a week and using them ever single day will 100% irritate your skin.

3. MOSTURIZER!!

Moisturizer is a must have whether you have oily, dry or combination skin. It keeps your skin hydrated and looking fresh. My favourite moisturizer is  Garnier Skin Active Moisture Rescue :

This moisturizer is so silky and smooth, it feels amazing on the face and I absolutely love it because I have extremely oily skin in the summer and dry skin in the winter and this works wonders for all seasons. It keeps my face perfectly hydrated and not oily what so ever! #notsponsored . I know what your thinking. Why would I use moisturizer if my skin is already really oily? Your skin is oily because it’s dry and dehydrated! Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!!!

4. Spot treatment

I love acne spot treatment. It gets rid of those, huge & pesky pimples that pop out of no where, overnight! My favourite is Burt’s Bees anti-blemish solutions : targeted spot treatment.

It’s just amazing! I 100% recommend. It is a little bit on the pricier side though I paid 15$ for that small bottle, but remember a little goes a long way.

5. Last but definitely not least EXCERCISE!

You probably think I’m being stereotypical “get rid of acne with excercise” kinda blog post but I promise it works. You just have to find the motivation, mindset and time to do it. You always have to start off easy and doing something you like. For example; if you like to run you start by running every morning and then work up to doing heavier work outs. Something just to get your body moving and working so that it can do its job and you can stay healthy!

Why should you use these tips?

I’ve gathered my knowledge on acne and acne products to give you my favourite ones. I’ve probably spent over $2k over the past four years on acne products. I’ve tried EVERYTHING possible for my type of acne. I’ve tried pro-activ : didn’t work what so ever plus they charged me $150 because they subscribed me without my permission. Clarisonic : it was so-so. Face masks : I’m ok with them they’re nice once a week but no more. Acne can really lower your self-esteem and confidence I remember looking at my sisters perfect, smooth and clear faces thinking to myself Why can’t my skin be like that? But I eventually got used to the fact that I had to put in that much more effort to keep my skin looking good or even just decent. Acne doesn’t have to bring you down. Be confident in who you are!

  1. I hate pimples and I know the feeling. But my grandma gave me an old secret. Rub some Vicks on it at night and it works wonders. The pimple will come out during the night and you will wake up like new again. It’s a stubborn pimple, it will take a couple of nights but trust me, it works.
